sardine run
Shore Entry
All levels
Depth: 10-20m
₱1,400
The main highlight of Moalboal, where millions of sardines swim synchronized all year round. An spectacle of nature that you won’t easily forget.
One minute walk from the dive shop. Best access during high tide as the rocky seafloor during low tide will make the walk a little bit trickier. Meters away from the shoreline the dive site drops deep but sardines gather between the surface down to 20 meters max. Apart from sardines, you’ll be able to see green turtles, plenty of pipe fish, lion fish, occasionally a frog fish or two and if you are very lucky, a whale shark cruising by or a thresher shark hunting.
Recommendations
- Experience level: Suitable for all divers, from beginners to advanced.
- Suggested equipment: Bring an underwater camera to capture the experience.
- Best timing: Best visibility and higher number of sardines usually happens in the morning.
Marine life
- Sardines! Duh!
- Green Sea Turtles
- Pipefish & Nudibranchs
- Lionfish
- Frogfish
- Spotted morays
- Banded sea craits
